August 24, 2007. Looks like the gloves have come off in the battle for the future of R&B. MediaTakeOut.com has learned that an all out war has just broken out between Mary J Blige and her label mate at Geffen Records, Keyshia Cole.
According to one of our sources at the label, the feud between Keyshia and Mary has been brewing for months. The insider tells MediaTakeOut.com, "Keyshia's always looked up to Mary, but Mary sees Keyshia as competition - and I don't blame her. Recently [Geffen] has been trying to sell Keyshia as 'The Next Mary J Blige' and Mary didn't appreciate that."
That re-branding of Keyshia Cole, or "Keyshia Clone" as she's called by insiders over at Geffen, was reportedly done by Keyshia's marketing manager at the label (who has the initials A.F.).
And this week, Mary tried to put a stop to things. According to a label insider, Mary and Kendu stormed into the office of Keyshia's marketing manager and had her fired. An eye witness to the firing explained it this way, "Mary told [A.F.] that she [was trying] to do to her what Puffy did to her back in the days [when he was] trying to make Faith a [Mary J Blige] clone. Then she [told A.F.] that she couldn't trust her and fired her on the spot."
But that move by Mary may have escalated the feud from a rivalry - to an all out war. That's because MediaTakeOut.com has learned that yesterday Keyshia called Mary to confront her about the firing. And according to a person in Keyshia's camp who asked for anonymity, Keyshia aired out Mary. The insider explains, "There was a lot of b*tch this and b*tch that going back and forth ... Let's just say I wouldn't expect the two ladies to be singing a duet in the future."

First of all Mrs. Cole is not tryning to be Mary... Now I am a Mary fan and I am a Keisha Cole fan. Both of these women are talented women. Give Keisha time she will get that respect. I am so tired of people hatting on her it is ridiculous. Keshia Cole has not been out as long as Mary, and she is still giving her a run for her money. NOw, if they were to have a battle of voices I would chose KEYSHIA COLE hands down as the winner. I love Mary but as far as vocally Keshia is better and stronger....!!!!
i love me some mary and i love me some keisha ..but i think were forgettin what music can do for all of us and the artist ..expressing what their going through in their life and having the guts to share it with the world is a true blessing .they are both talented sisters who i think needs to celebrated in their own unique way .so ill give them props for telling us what theyve been through and sending the message to all other sisters to be strong and inspired...peeace
